The people of Oke-Ere Village and surrounding communities continue to face a recurring challenge at the Gboagun River, where efforts to provide a stable bridge crossing have repeatedly failed due to seasonal flooding.
For many years, the bridge over Gboagun River has remained a major concern for residents, commuters, farmers, traders, students, and visitors who rely on the road connecting Oke-Ere to Akata Community and Odo-Ere Community.
Whenever a bridge is constructed, heavy rains and floodwaters during the rainy season often wash it away, leaving the route difficult or impossible to pass.
About three years ago, a fresh intervention brought hope when the bridge was reconstructed through the efforts of Elder Leke Abejide, the House of Representative member representing Yagba Federal Constituency. However, despite the good intention and relief it initially provided, the structure was again washed away by floodwaters during the next rainy season.
